I was watching the Ellen show when she had a guest that won money from an app called HQ Trivia. I decided to check it out. HQ trivia is a free app for both Android and IOS. HQ Trivia was created by Rus Yusupov and Colin Kroll, who made Vine.
The premise of the game is basically this, if you pass anywhere from 12-15 trivia questions, depending on how big the prize is, you can win real money. You have ten seconds to answer the question. If you miss a question, you are out of the running for the cash. It’s not like “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” because HQ Trivia is live on your phone.
HQ trivia usually plays twice a day, other than the weekends which have one game a day. The game times are usually 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. local time. If you miss those times, you have to wait until the next day to play. If you do end up winning the money goes to your Pay-Pal account.
Sometimes there are multiple winners so you have to split the cash prize, and if you’re worried about not knowing a lot of trivia you can stay in the game longer by having your friends sign up.
There are a few glitches of course, like any other app. The biggest one is sometimes the live stream has a lag. I recommend being hooked up to wi-fi to make it go a bit smoother, but it’s not a requirement. When you are not hooked up to wi-fi it seems to lag much more. There is also a long intro before the game starts because they are trying to get as many players as they can. However, if you don’t like stress this probably isn’t the game for you. You have to be in it to win the cash. Don’t worry though, if you don’t win there are always more chances. Overall, it’s a fun game other than the somewhat annoying lag and gives you an opportunity to win some cash.
